Depression/Sadness
It is first important to discuss the difference between depression and sadness.
Sadness is a normal human emotion. You are going to feel sad from time to time, and that is perfectly okay and normal. Feeling sad is a natural reaction to certain situations.
Depression is a mental illness that is diagnosed by a professional. It is more than just having sadness, but a deeper, longer-lasting feeling.

What to do if you have long-lasting feelings of sadness?
If you have felt a sense of sadness or emptiness that has been lasting quite awhile, if you feel a loss of hope, or if you are having trouble getting motivated or excited about anything, please speak with me or another adult. It is important to be open about how you feel so you can get help to work through these feelings.
