Overthinking
Sometimes there is nothing more stressful than lying awake in night at bed and overthinking everything. It may be the first time you pause for the day and let your mind wander, which can often lead to you overanalyzing all kinds of things. It also certainly makes falling asleep difficult.
You may find yourself worrying about things that happened during the day and decisions you made, wondering if you did the right thing. You may also find yourself worrying about the future and things that haven't happened yet (whether it's an upcoming test, some interaction you will have with someone else, etc.).
Unfortunately, it might seem like the more you tell yourself to stop, the worse it can get. For instance, if I tell you to not think of an elephant right now, chances are that you are immediately going to think about elephants. The same thing is often true for things that worry us.
The good news is that there are ways you can work to help minimize this overthinking and stress that may cause you anxiety and keep you awake at night.
